Counterparty screening
A written assessment of who you are dealing with, covering the individual and the company behind them. The report belongs to you and you release it to whoever asks. Registration is not required. You pay per report.
What you receive
Not a list of traffic lights. A dated report opening with a written assessment in plain English, saying what we found, what we could not establish and where we think the remaining risk sits. The underlying search results follow behind it as evidence.
The individual
- Global fraud and sanctions search: current and previous sanctions lists, law enforcement records, financial regulator actions
- PEP screening: politically exposed persons and close associates
- Adverse media: press and public record matches
- Passport validation: against lost and stolen document registers, with checks on visual authenticity, tampering and machine readable zone integrity
- Directorship history: current and previous appointments, and any disqualification, where the jurisdiction maintains a searchable register
The company
- Registration: that the company exists, its number, incorporation date, status and registered address
- Ownership: shareholders and beneficial owners as far as the register discloses them, including where the trail leaves the jurisdiction
- Officers: directors and their other appointments, and whether the people you are speaking to hold any authority to bind the company
- Filing history: whether accounts and returns are filed on time, dormant periods, recent changes of name, address or control
- Insolvency and charges: winding up, administration, and security registered over the company's assets
- Litigation: proceedings on the public record, where the jurisdiction publishes them
Why the company layer matters more than the passport
Almost nobody in this market is a fictional person. They are real people, correctly identified, fronting companies incorporated last year with no filings, no capital and no history of trading anything. An identity check passes them. A company that was registered eleven weeks ago, has never filed accounts and lists a virtual office does not.
Every amber gets a sentence
Screening data comes back as green, amber or red. Amber means possible match and, on its own, tells you nothing you can act on. We open the underlying detail, work out whether it is the same person, and write what we found on the face of the report. That adjudication is the work you are paying for, and it is why this is not a database subscription.
Where coverage is thin
Some checks depend on an authoritative national register, and several of the countries this market trades with do not maintain one that is searchable. Where that is the case a check returns "unable to verify". That is not an adverse finding, and we say so plainly rather than leaving it to be misread in either direction. Every report states which checks were available for that jurisdiction and which were not.
Your documents
Passport and company papers are uploaded through an encrypted form, held only while the report is valid, then deleted. We are the data controller. You can ask for a copy of what we hold, or challenge a finding, at any time.
What it does not cover
Identity and standing are not capability. This report says who you are, who is behind the company, and whether either is on a list. It says nothing about cargo, title, allocation, storage, funding or ability to perform on a particular transaction, and it says so on its face, so nobody can present it as though it did.
